An article about recycling: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/04/opinion/sunday/the-reign-of-recycling.html?_r=0
What happens if I don’t reuse, reduce, or recycle? That’s a very good question! Here are several things that could happen to our precious Earth if we don’t reuse, reduce, and recycle.
Pollution and pollutants will overpopulate the Earth whether it is air, water, or land pollution. People will stop riding bikes and will ride cars which emit carbon dioxide into the air. The atmosphere will be damaged if too much CO2 goes into the air.
Landfills will become too massive and crowded with trash and items that could be recycled. The landfills will become too toxic from all the chemicals coming out of Styrofoam, batteries, plastic, paper, and more.
By not reducing, reusing, and recycling, we are destroying natural habitats. The trees are being cut down faster than they can regrow, thanks to people who don’t recycle paper and other wood products.
When you don’t reduce your use of energy, non-renewable resources will become unavailable faster and faster. Non-renewable means that these resources take a long time to form, so they are not sustainable. Oil, coal, and natural gases are considered non-renewable resources.
Those are only some of the things that could happen to humans, animals, plants, etc. if we don’t start protecting our environment and atmosphere now. Please reply if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you and don’t forget to recycle!
